The prototype of the weapon was developed in the 1960s in parallel with the legendary G3. This version featured the use of the later 5.56 NATO standard cartridge and was intended for export. It was adopted by the armies of Brazil, Thailand, Malaysia and Turkey. It was also used by a number of police and special forces.
The KA3 variant features a shorter barrel and retractable stock. The retractable stock makes this assault rifle more compact. The all-metal design of the body gives the weapon a pleasant weight. The metal magazine holds 330 rounds.
