Low weight, high resistance
When designing the construction of the plastic piston head, we set two criteria - low weight and high durability. Precisely because of the weight, quite unusually during assembly, the screw is inserted from the front of the head, the thread is then not in the head itself, but in the flange of the axial bearing of the spring. Otherwise, the thread would have to be directly in the plastic, which is not a good solution for repeated assembly and disassembly of the piston head. Or there would have to be a threaded duralumin insert in the head, but that would increase its weight. We therefore chose the most optimal solution.
Sophisticated geometry of the back pressure system
The piston head is so-called counter-pressure, which is already an established standard today, but we still managed to move the proven design a little further.
EPeS piston head has 11 suction holes for O-ring sealing. The placement of these holes has been chosen to maximize flat contact surfaces with the impact rubber of the head while maintaining excellent compression. The larger the functional area of the impact rubber, the more efficiently the shocks of the piston are absorbed, the weapon exhibits a quieter operation, and the life of the rubber is also extended.
The edges of the intake holes are rounded in the EPeS airsoft piston head to an ideal aerodynamic shape for effective air access to the sealing O-ring. But even more important is the disruption of the sharp transition between the straight face of the head and the hole. This sharp transition is in most cases the cause of damage to the impact rubber of the cylinder head.
