BAS recommends:
The Sterling submachine gun was developed at the end of World War II as a replacement for the legendary Sten. It became standard issue only after further development in the 1950s. It got its name after the armory where it was developed and manufactured. A version with a silencer was created in the 1960s for special forces. It also served in the hands of the SAS in Vietnam war. They were withdrawn from the British Army's service only in 1994, when they were replaced by the modern L85. It is not without interest that the designer of the weapon, motorcycle racer George W. Patchett, worked in Czechoslovakia in the 1930s for the JAWA company and after the annexation of the rest of Czechoslovakia helped to smuggle prototype weapons from the protectorate.
The all-metal design gives the weapon a pleasant weight. The metal folding stock can be used to hold the weapon even in the folded position. On the weapon you will also find loops for a sling and a wooden handguard. The silencer can be removed and the weapon can be used without it.
